Photo Guidelines
The better the photo, the better the keepsake. Here’s how to get the best result.
What makes a good photo
Clear and in focus. Blurry or pixelated photos make details hard to capture.
Good lighting. Natural daylight is best. Avoid harsh shadows or very dark photos.
Faces visible. Front-facing or slightly angled works best, without sunglasses or hats covering the face.
Close enough. The person or pet should fill a good part of the frame.
Original files. Send the original photo rather than a screenshot, or a photo of a printed photo where possible.
Painting pets
Photos taken at your pet’s eye level work beautifully. Please also let us know about any markings that don’t show clearly in the photo, such as a white patch on one paw or a darker ear. We want to get them just right.
Painting several people or pets
Everyone doesn’t need to be in the same photo. You can send a separate photo of each person or pet, and we’ll bring them together in one keepsake.
Adding details
Please tell us anything that helps us capture them, such as hair colour if the photo is dark, favourite clothes, or a toy your pet always carries. Check spellings of names and dates carefully, as we’ll paint exactly what you send.
How to send your photos
Upload your photos when you place your order or Email them to info@woodfolk.co.uk with your order number within 3 days of ordering. We’ll let you know if a photo isn’t clear enough to work from.
Your photos are safe with us
We only use your photos to make your keepsake. We’ll never share them, and we delete them within 3 months of your order being delivered. Please only send photos you have permission to use. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
